‘Atomic City’ is based off of photos of mushroom cloud viewing parties I came across, which took place throughout the late 50s and early 60s in Las Vegas. I was drawn to the story because of the contrasting elements of destruction and leisure, of top-secret tests and entrepreneurial profiteering.
