‘Augusta by night’ is a series based on the large oil refinery which straddles the town of Augusta in Sicily. Driving on the motorway from Syracuse to Catania you will come across a vast city of pipes and distillation towers, of flames and fumes which sprawls across the gulf of Augusta. I was drawn to its vastness, its unnerving but eye catching, harsh but unignorable.
