‘Untitled # 1’ is part of a series inspired by the same thing as Untitled # 2. In this series I’m trying to “painting with darkness” - creating darker surfaces where the image emerges slowly through small highlights or subtle contrasts. I like the subtlety of it and the way it works in a room: a small rectangle of darkness that gradually reveals itself as an image the closer you get to it. Is the Church still there or is it a ruin?
