Japanese Cowboy #3

Oil on Calico
30 x 30 cm
2026

Part of a series, this painting is based off of a passage from Kazuo Ishiguro’s book ‘An artist of the floating world’. A book that narrates the reconciliation between the nationalistic generation that led Japan to war and the post war generation that wanted a split from the values of their parents.

“Suichi believes it's better he likes cowboys than that he idolize people like Miyamoto Musashi.”
